Post Game Engines

Most Quake-engine games have content that is nearly 100% cross-compatible with GoldSrc-engine games and vice versa (some files may need to be converted), due to latter being based on the Quake engine.

Here is a list of game engines and the games that use them, in case anyone ever wants to use content from one game and add it in a mod for another.

GoldSrc

Counter-Strike
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero
Day Of Defeat
Gunman Chronicles
Half-Life
Half-Life: Blue Shift
Half-Life: Opposing Force
James Bond 007: NightFire
Team Fortress Classic

Quake

CIA Operative: Solo Missions
HeXen II
HeXen II Mission Pack: Portal Of Praevus
Laser Arena
MageSlayer
Quake
Urban Mercenary

id Tech 2

Anachronox
Heretic II
John Romero's Daikatana
Kingpin: Life Of Crime
Quake II
SiN
SiN: Wages Of Sin
Soldier Of Fortune

Note that this is only a partial list noting the most popular, retail games and add-on's.

Fun fact of the day.

The Wolfenstien 3D engine, became the Doom engine, and had many copies of it. While it became the Quake engine, which became the Quake 2+ engine, it also became the Call of Duty Engine. (It's still Quake 3 at it's core). It became GoldSource, and it became Source.

The best part is, that's just Quake

Think about all the other video-games engines.

Super Mario 64's Engine became Zelda OOT's Engine, which became MM's Engine, which became WW, which became TP, which became Skyward.

For anyone that doesn't know Zelda games.

OOO = Ocarina of Time
MM = Majora's Mask
WW = Wind Waker
TP = Twilight Princess

Most, if not all first person shooters engine were based either of the Doom, Quake, Build, ID Tech 2 and ID Tech 3 engines nowadays those engines barely resemble to their origins anymore though, around 98% of the code has been remade in the meanwhile, but its still funny to see how such different engines all originated from a bunch of similar engines.
